[Link to watch]: Cherie Westell Missing Update 2023: Is She Found Yet?
The Cherie Westell missing person case has attracted significant public and media attention. What happened to the young girl?
Cherie Westell, a Melbourne schoolgirl, vanished into thin air in 2000. The investigator assumes that a crime has happened to her.
Cherie was last seen being dropped off at a dentist’s office on the afternoon of December 12, 2000. She later called a family member from a public telephone box and said she was taking a train to Ringwood.
However, she never came home. She was only 15 years old at the time. In December 2022, a $1 million reward was offered for information that would help police solve the case.
Her foster mother Frances and foster sister Marg have appealed to the public for any information about her disappearance.

It’s been 23 years, but Cherie Westell’s missing person case is still unsolved, and the $1 million reward offer for any information leading to a conviction has still not been claimed.

Although time has passed, the case of her disappearance remains mysterious and there are no concrete clues as to her whereabouts.
Cherie Westell was just days away from her 16th birthday at the time of her disappearance.
The heartbreaking story of Cherie Westell’s disappearance dates back to December 12, 2000.
On that fateful day, the 15-year-old was dropped off at a dentist’s office in Melbourne, seemingly like any normal afternoon.
But her life took a dark turn when she disappeared without a trace.
The last contact with Cherie was a call she made from a public telephone box, telling a family member that she was taking the train home to Ringwood. Those words would be the last anyone heard from her.
Her family, friends and the entire community were in a state of shock and despair as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into years with no sign of Cherie.
Police believe Cherie Westell probably died
Police believe Cherie Westell is probably dead because a coroner concluded in 2003 that she was likely killed by someone.

To find the perpetrator, Victoria Police in December 2022 offered a reward of up to $1 million to anyone who can help them get a conviction.
Because Cherie was a state guardian, reporting her missing case was delayed for six days until a biological relative reported her.
Frances, Cherie’s former foster mother, wanted to call the police immediately, but they refused to accept her report.
“Her case is a nightmare for every family,” said Victoria Police Missing Persons Detective Acting Inspector Tony Combridge.
“Cherie was a young girl who called her family and told them she was coming home, and that was the last time they ever heard from her,” he said.
The people who kidnapped Cherie have kept this secret for more than two decades. “It takes a long time to live in fear,” added Tony Combridge.
Authorities and the missing girl’s family urged the public to come forward and provide any information they have.
“It doesn’t matter how insignificant and small you find the information. “The information could be exactly what our investigators need to make a breakthrough in this case,” said Tony Combridge.
