Who is Billy Chemirmir?

Billy Chemirmir is a convicted murderer at the center of the alleged murder of elderly women in Dallas, Texas and surrounding suburbs.

He was born on 8 December 1972 in Eldama Ravine, Baringo District, Kenya, the son of a longtime village chief.

Billy Chemirmir was indicted for 22 murders and convicted of two. Civil lawsuits were also filed charging him with six more similar murders. He had previous drunk driving convictions in Addison and Dallas in 2010 and 2011, and received fines and short detention sentences.

Billy Chemirmir actually has a long criminal record and has been on the police force’s wanted list for many years. At one point, he was accused of impersonating a medical professional or maintenance worker and gaining access to the property of at least 22 elderly women and smothering them to death with pillows.

Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot told families in May 2021 that his office would not seek a death sentence for the embattled Billy Chemirmir as of that specific date . On August 24, 2023, Collin County District Attorney identified as Greg Willis said that he would not seek the death penalty for Chemirmir. His trial for the murder of Mary Brooks begins on October 3, 2022.

On October 7, 2022, Chemirmir was convicted of the murder of Mary Brooks and sentenced to life in prison. Following his conviction, the remaining charges against Chemirmir were dismissed, disappointing many other alleged victims’ families.
